Turkey is a great alternative to Ground or Minced Beef or Lamb. Poultry needs a little help with fat, but if you get ground Turkey with fat (the non-fat option is just way too dry!) you will have a very tasty Spaghetti! Let’s get to it.
Ingredients
Halal Ground Turkey (Fat and Meat) — Do not buy Fat Free!!!
Onions — Diced
Green Bell Peppers — Diced
Garlic (6 Cloves) — Chopped
Black Pepper
Real Butter (Do not use Margarin or Ghee) — 2 Tbsp
Pink Himilayan Salt (Do not substitute for regular salt)
Garlic Salt
Parsley (Fresh Chopped but Dry is ok)
Carrots (Small Diced)
1/3 cup of water
Small splash of Peanut Oil
Cayenne Pepper (pinch only)
Basil (Fresh. Do not use dried Basil!!!): Chopped fine
Let’s Cook It Up!
Add peanut oil and water to the pan and heat the pan on 4 setting (Gas — Medium low). Get the pan hot
Add in the onions, green bell peppers, fresh basil, chopped garlic, and dry seasonings.
Cook until onions are translucent. Mix well.
Add in Halal Ground Turkey. Pound and chop and cook well. PRO TIP: Do NOT cook on high heat. You will make the meat tough and burn the onion mixture!!! Medium Heat is enough and use a pan cover.
Add the carrots and cook down for 5 minutes and keep stirring.
Add the 2 tbsp of butter and melt and mix throughout the mixture.
Taste for flavor and then add the Marinara Sauce (Aldi’s Premium Marinara Sauce or use Fresh Chopped Tomatos with Fresh Basil). Simmer for at least 20 minutes and mix well every 3–5 minutes. Make sure heat is on medium low.
If you can find Italian Mutti Crushed Tomatos in your local store or online, that is the best Tomato Sauce to use: https://mutti-parma.com/us/products/crushed-tomatoes/
Taste and laddle over Al Dente Spaghetti or Rotini
Serve with sprinkle of Pecorino or Grated Parmesean Cheese and Romano Cheese. Add Basil leaves for garnish.
Goes great with Buttery French Bread or a Baguette.
